Here they are again — the famous filmmaker and fly fishing duo we’ve been following on their adventures for years: Aimee and Chase from Tight Loops! This time they’re taking us to Vancouver Island to chase Cutthroat — you know, those trout with the bold red slash marks under the gills. Go ahead, throw this up on the big screen, it’ll cool you right off!
For years, Alaska remained the biggest blank space on Aimee and Chase Bartee’s map – a place they had always dreamed of exploring but never managed to reach. In TIGHT LOOPS | TWO IN THE NORTH, the filmmaker duo finally set out to change that, leaving Montana in their Toyota Tundra for a summer journey through Vancouver Island, British Columbia, the Yukon, and the wild country beyond.
Part overland travelogue, part natural-history film, the series follows Aimee and Chase as they search for native fish, add new birds to their life lists, tread unfamiliar water, and document the landscapes and wildlife that draw them further and further north. Their route is intentionally loose, leaving space for difficult conditions, wrong turns, hard-earned discoveries, and the kind of encounters that can’t be planned from behind a screen.
Aimee and Chase are award-winning filmmakers whose work blends fly fishing, overland travel, art, and conservation, with a particular focus on wild species and intact ecosystems.
Expedition Portal Presents brings together overland creators from across countries and cultures, sharing stories of adventure, inspiration, endurance, and problem-solving from the road. Featuring creators like Desk to Glory, Tight Loops, We Will Roam, Bound for Nowhere, Roam Overlanding, and Gon Cookin’, the series highlights the diversity of the overland world: different rigs, routes, and backgrounds, united by the same drive to go farther, stay curious, and take the long way.
