Shopping List #21 – Stay cool! Soft cooler backpacks and Bottles

Good news—the week’s looking a bit cooler, and after the last heat wave, you’ve learned it pays to keep your picnic and drinks cold, especially with another heat wave on the way (and unfortunately, it won’t be the last)… Here’s a small selection of soft coolers backpack and bottles for your fishing trips!

We chose to feature only 10L bags—just enough for your sandwiches and drinks, your basic trail grub!

Basic : Tourist Leak Proof Waterproof 2 Insulated Compartments Soft Cooler Bag. It’s very basic, but hey, do we really need more than what is has to offer? You have 2 compartments : one 4L. on the top and an bigger one below 24L. Way enough! You’ll need to add ice or . it has 2 pockets on the side and you can add a lot to it’s rubber buckles. It does what it says. 33$ – comes in several colours.

Soft Cooler Backpack- Dometic PSC 22. A 22-liter waterproof backpack—plenty for you and a buddy’s sandwiches and drinks. The bag is seriously tough, and you can customize it however you like with the Molle® straps. It keeps things cold for several days (on paper) with ice packs! Comes in 3 colors, but now we’re in a different price bracket: 206$

YETI DayTrip 20L Insulated backpack. Alright, no need to sell you on the brand—if anyone knows how to build a cooler, it’s these guys! Perfect for the day, just toss in one or two Yeti ice blocks (or any other brand…) and you’re set! Needless to say it’s sturdy and comfortable, and—for you gluttons out there—easy to open! 225$ Also available in beige. Or if you want to go up a notch, there’s the Yeti Hopper

CamelBak Thrive Chug Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle. We all know the brand, it’s cheap and solid and it does what you get it for: being able to drink cold or hot. It’s large, 40oz, and it’s easy to drink from. 30$ and comes in many colours and different sizes. Pick yours! Around 30$.

LifeStraw Stainless Steel 24oz. These guys are the kings of the outdoors with their specialty: filtration! You bring your bottle along and can fill it up straight from a river or along the trail, and thanks to its filtration system (which you can swap out—carbon filters, microfilter membrane), you can be pretty sure you’re not drinking just anything! That said, we’d still recommend not filtering water straight from a sewage outlet or stagnant pond… Keeps things cool all day: 60$ Comes in 9 different colors and several sizes.

Yeti Rambler Customizable 770ml. This one’s the cream of the crop—you can get your name engraved on your bottle to stand out from the pack, or just to show off, like we did! It’s a metal bottle and holds its own against the competition, except it’s a Yeti, so it’s supposed to be better, right? This model comes with a built-in straw, but other cap styles are available too… 40$ Comes in a bunch of different colors, and other models too!
