We’re starting to get used to Loop’s Wild Fish / Wild Places series, where we follow the brand’s ambassadors on their adventures. While we did get the chance to head to Argentina with Fred Campbell from Hooké, it’s mostly Emilie Björkman we see in most episodes. Today’s episode hits a little different, because she’s taking us back to where she started fishing, in southern Sweden. That makes it easy to relate to, and honestly even more exciting to watch, especially when it’s about trout fishing! Not like flying halfway around the world for a trip that costs you a year’s salary… Basically, it’s more “down to earth,” as we say.

Fly fishing for wild brown trout and sea trout in southern Sweden takes center stage in Episode 9 of Loop’s fly fishing series, Wild Fish / Wild Places, with Emilie Björkman. This time, she heads to Skåne to explore some of Scandinavia’s finest brown trout and sea trout waters, while discovering what it takes to sustain healthy populations of wild trout (Salmo trutta).

Along the way, Emilie visits Anders Persson — scientist, lifelong angler, and dedicated conservation advocate — on his home water, hoping to catch the season’s first major Danica hatch. She also reunites with her good friend Richard Larsson, a fly fishing expert, who takes her to some of his favorite coastal spots in search of the region’s renowned sea trout.
Emilie’s journey continues on the productive waters of the Nybroån, where she meets researcher Herman Forsberg to learn more about the river’s thriving trout population. She also spends time with Göran Larsson from Ystadortens Fiskevårds- och Sportfiskeförening, an inspiring organization whose members have spent more than 80 years protecting, restoring, and improving trout habitat throughout the region.
