MOUCHING SHOPPING #8 – TOTE BAGS

Tote bags are ideal for messy guys like us and at the same time incredibly practical for throwing in whatever you want. The French name for “Tote Bag” is literally “fourre-tout” — meaning “stuff it all”! Need we say more? Here’s a selection of 6 bags that are going to make you very happy — in any case, we absolutely love tote bags!

Patagonia Black Hole Gear Tote 61L. For us, this is THE tote bag — we adopted it a long time ago. It comes in two sizes, 61L and 25L, and it’s the larger one we love most, because it lets you fit EVERYTHING inside. A pair of shoes, a wader, a hip pack — and you’ll still find extra room to slip in a few essential bits and pieces. I only own one bag for my fishing gear, and this is it. It’s tough and comes several colors available (with or without the trout logo). 125$ or 85$. Note those are real Totes, no zippers, but you can buckle the top with two straps.

L.L. Bean’s Hunter’s Tote Bag 53L We love this bag because it’s just a Tote Bag and it’s not selling us anything else, it’s the basic. We’ve been carrying it for about 10 years now and it’s so versatile tha twe ise it from carrying logs inside the house, stashing our fishing gear and waders or the picnic food when we’re traveling. It’s, with the one above, the bag that we always have with us, whatever we do. It comes in several colours but we like that woodland camo. Comes in 3 sizes : Medium = 15L 50$, Large 31L 55$ and Extra Large 53L 60$ (Note those are REAL Tote Bags and are Open Top – You might have to wait a little for delivery).

Hydro Flask 34L Outdoor Tote. The brand is mainly known for coolers, bottles and everything that keeps your food and drinks at the right temperature. Here we have the 34L Outdoor Tote, you can use it for everything, it’s tough and will be your best friend to toss in your gear and there are extra pockets (one zipped inside and 2 mesh outside the bag) so you know where what you need is. Comes in 1 coulour, it’s pefect for a day trip! And it’s on special offer 40$

YETI Camino Tote 50. We all know Yeti — when it comes to bags, coolers and insulated bottles, they’re right at the top of the game! This one won’t be your go-to bag for hauling fishing gear in the true tote bag sense, but since it’s insulated, you can dedicate it entirely to picnics! A bonus with Yeti (aside from their well-established reputation) is the ability to compartmentalize the bag using individual dividers. It comes in three sizes and plenty of coulours — 20L, 35L and 50L — and the two larger ones give you plenty of room to keep a whole lot of stuff cold! 130$, 150$ and 200$.

Filson All Weather Tote Bag. The brand from Seattle made from the Alaska gold prospectors — to give you an idea of just how tough their gear is, look no further than Jack London’s tales of the Klondike — which has since branched out to become THE reference in clothing and bags for what we call the Outdoors, while staying true to its roots! Their tote is water-resistant with a 23L capacity. Available in several colors, but we love the camo! 160$.

TopoDesign Mountain Gear Bag. Topo Designs makes bags (and clothing) that are both sturdy and come in great colors. We love the large-volume options like this 48L Mountain Gear Bag — originally designed to be spacious enough for a rope, two harnesses, helmets, a mat and everything you need for a climbing trip, it turns out to be absolutely perfect for fitting in: a pair of shoes, a wader, a bag with your small gear, and you’ll still have room to add a thermos and your sandwich(es)! In short, exactly the kind of bag we love, because everything is in one place. Available in loads of colors and two sizes — 33L and 48L — and our pick is always the bigger one! 110 ou 160$
