I remember very well the first time I fished Montana, it was in a book, a novel I cannot remember which one, but those guys were cool and they were fly fishing for trout in Montana. Later, as everyone else I saw A River runs through it and I instantly bought the book by Norman Mclean, that was it, I was hooked! In the early 90’s I helped a friend to move from San Francisco to Bozeman and I drove a van up to Montana, I fell instantly in love with her roomate and the country itself. I had bought a combo, a rod and a real, all I needed was some flies, a pair of waders and to know how to fly fish! One hour later I was in a river with a guide who leped me catch my first fly on dry! Easy peasy! Just like that! I was hooked and will never fly any other way ever since. I came back several times to Montana, I never saw my friend’s roomate again, but I sure did fish!
