A Fly Casting Lesson

borgerJason Borger, you all know him. If not directly, at least because he was Brad Pitt’s casting double in And a River Ran Through it. He’s a fly casting instructor, one of the best there is, and also a fine writer and a talented aquarelist. His new book is about to ship: Single-Handed Fly Casting. It’s a modular approach. The basic idea is that there are myriads of casting styles and variants, but each one of them is a particular combination of a limited number of notions. Studying and training those will enrich at once your whole casting vocabulary. I think it’s just fascinating.

Of course, Jérôme and I immediately enlisted for the official publication next month. If you wish, you can try and contact Jason in the coms on this FB annoucement. It’s $55, plus $50 shipping for Europe. Expensive, but the book is 3 pounds. And every ounce of those will make you a better caster!

And for those who have no patience, Jason just posted on the Sexyloops frontpage an old video of Jim Green. 23mn of old school happiness, a casting lesson full of good ole America and Fenwick HMGs…

The way it once was.
