We’re starting to get used to\u00a0Loop’s<\/a>\u00a0Wild Fish \/ Wild Places series, where we follow the brand’s ambassadors on their adventures. While we did get the chance to head to\u00a0Argentina with Fred Campbell from Hook\u00e9,<\/a> it’s mostly Emilie Bj\u00f6rkman we see in most episodes. Today’s episode hits a little different, because she’s taking us back to where she started fishing, in southern Sweden. That makes it easy to relate to, and honestly even more exciting to watch, especially when it’s about trout fishing! Not like flying halfway around the world for a trip that costs you a year’s salary… Basically, it’s more “down to earth,” as we say.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


Alright, let’s head to Sk\u00e5ne \u2014 if you’re in Europe, you can drive there, it’s a nice road trip!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fly fishing for wild brown trout and sea trout in southern Sweden takes center stage in Episode 9 of Loop’s fly fishing series, Wild Fish \/ Wild Places, with Emilie Bj\u00f6rkman. This time, she heads to Sk\u00e5ne to explore some of Scandinavia’s finest brown trout and sea trout waters, while discovering what it takes to sustain healthy populations of wild trout (Salmo trutta).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Des truites r\u00e9sidentes \u00e9tonnamment grosses qui prosp\u00e8rent dans de petits cours d’eau productifs aux truites de mer anadromes le long du littoral accident\u00e9 de la Su\u00e8de, la Scanie offre un \u00e9ventail impressionnant de spots de p\u00eache \u00e0 la mouche de classe mondiale. Une richesse due en grande partie \u00e0 des d\u00e9cennies de travail de conservation men\u00e9 par les p\u00eacheurs, clubs et associations locales depuis les ann\u00e9es 1940.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along the way, Emilie visits Anders Persson \u2014 scientist, lifelong angler, and dedicated conservation advocate \u2014 on his home water, hoping to catch the season’s first major Danica hatch. She also reunites with her good friend Richard Larsson, a fly fishing expert, who takes her to some of his favorite coastal spots in search of the region’s renowned sea trout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emilie’s journey continues on the productive waters of the Nybro\u00e5n, where she meets researcher Herman Forsberg to learn more about the river’s thriving trout population. She also spends time with G\u00f6ran Larsson from Ystadortens Fiskev\u00e5rds- och Sportfiskef\u00f6rening, an inspiring organization whose members have spent more than 80 years protecting, restoring, and improving trout habitat throughout the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
