Sandwiches&#8230; no, THE sandwich! Although sometimes we&#8217;d mix it up with the <em>Entrepa de truita<\/em> (the Tortilla sandwich \u2014 but that&#8217;s a story for another time&#8230;). So the base is the Serrano ham sandwich, just the way Maria used to make it for me \u2014 our neighbor from Carrer de les Illes \u2014 back when we only spoke Catalan among ourselves, and Spanish at school&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>El Bocata de Pernil, Pa amb Tom\u00e0quet.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s pretty simple, and you&#8217;re going to love it! Here&#8217;s what you&#8217;ll need:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 baguette or a nice crusty bread (you can lightly toast the inside\/crumb side like for bagels)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 garlic cloves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good olive oil&#8230; actually, make that REALLY good olive oil!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Round, juicy tomatoes medium size.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salt (coarse salt)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serrano ham or good-quality cured ham<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A grater<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped
