For many, New York is New York City \u2014 the city itself. But New York State is fantastic for fly fishing! Acidic soils blanketed with oaks, pines and rhododendrons, dotted with chains of lakes and small streams or human-scale rivers that wind through the middle, all absolutely \u2014 as we say back home \u2014 “loaded with fish”! My wife being a New Yorker, I’ve often gone fishing for browns or rainbows, particularly around\u00a0Roscoe<\/a>, on the Beaverkill. And it’s also the stomping grounds of our friend Flechmuller, who has fished there a great deal as well! Anyway, to cut a long story short, when I came across this film about fishing for wild browns in Central New York, I just couldn’t resist!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Spring in full swing and water levels in great shape took advantage of a beautiful spring afternoon to hike down to one of my favorite wild brown trout fisheries witht the flyrod. The mayflies were hatching, the scenery was gorgeous and I managed to bring a few nice trout to the net.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
