Every time we go fishing, we see two very different kinds of fishermen down by the water. There are those who are super serious\u2014they\u2019ve got about twenty boxes in their vests (just in case), the latest gear, and they\u2019re capable of going without a lunch break!!! And then there are the others, like us, for whom fishing is just an excuse to get together and have a good time. And our favorite part is the snack breaks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And today, we\u2019re bringing you something new that we\u2019ve decided to call PIMP MY DWICH, a nod to the famous TV show that customizes old cars (just in case you didn\u2019t get the reference!). So for Episode 0, we\u2019re sharing a little gem that\u2019s sure to take your sandwiches, salads, or even your raclette to the next level! And the best part is, it\u2019s super easy to make!! So let\u2019s get started on some red onion pickles\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You don\u2019t need many ingredients for this: sugar, a pinch of salt, peppercorns, apple cider vinegar or wine vinegar, water, and, of course, red onions (but you can also use carrots, red cabbage, and even wild garlic shoots\u2014basically, whatever takes your fancy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, clean out some empty jam jars (you can also sterilize them\u2014it\u2019s even recommended).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take a saucepan and pour in 200 ml of water, 200 ml of vinegar, a teaspoon of salt, a teaspoon of pepper, and 120 g of sugar. Mix well and try to dissolve the sugar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heat the mixture, and when it starts to boil, turn off the heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour the mixture, while still very hot, into the jam jars filled with onions that you\u2019ve previously sliced into thin strips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seal the jars and let them cool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your pickles are ready, but it\u2019s best to let them sit overnight before eating them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
