I’m currently building something for the heavyweight game: tunas, sharks, maybe the fat catfish you find in France… It’s one of the first batch of the Epic Boca Grande blanks from Swift<\/a>. It’s an 8’6 fiberglass 12wt. Right now I’ve just chosen the components and tested the grip. It’s gonna be made of Rodhouse’s top shelf super dense EVA<\/a>. Cork is actually the best grip material there is from a technical point of view, but I wanted to try something else on this rod. Fuji alconite insert guide all the way (more on this later).<\/p>\n

What I can tell you so far: the blank is tough, suprisingly fast, and heavy. Beautiful lagoon blue color. Can’t wait to cast it, and to hook into something bad that will give it some punishment.
