\"\"There I was, headed to Cuba\u00a0for my annual \u00a0trip.\u00a0I had \u00a0been packing my stuff for 3 weeks. The anticipation was tremendous. The itinerary was dope.<\/p>\n

First stop: Las Salinas, to check the numerous bonefish, then after to Havana to meet up with my friend Arnaud and off to Cayo Paredon on the north side of the Island, for tarpon, bones and permit. Last stop: Punta Allen, Mexico with E. Coati to shoot a film about my friend Paris Fleezanis from This Is Fly in action and ecstasy catching permit all week long. But someone threw a wrench in our plans: Beryl \u2026<\/div>\n

.\"\"\"\"As I arrived in Las Salinas, the sky grew darker and a few drops started to fall\u2026Three days later I took shelter in\u00a0Hotel Sevilla<\/a>\u00a0in La Havana where I dried my \u00a0gear before heading to Cayo Paredon where the weather was worsening. As I arrived on the flats the wind starts to howl and heavy rain started to fall. All the fish were long gone as Tropical Storm Beryl came to visit. Pounding rain. Unrelenting. \u00a0I was not evacuated as were the guys from Avalon on the southern part of the Island, but the fishing was tough\u2026 very tough\u2026 \u201cI\u2019ll catch up in Mexico\u201d , I thought to myself. But as I arrived in Punta Allen, where I met up with the film director Elizabeth Coati and Paris Fleezanis, Beryl decided to come along \u00a0uninvited\u2026 Thunderstorms, heavy driving rain, big crashing waves, strong winds…. that\u2019s what we got instead of permit\u2026 Fortunately I had a new rain jacket (I\u2019ll post the field test soon) that kept me dry ! I\u2019m telling you, next year May is OUT. I’ll go in April !!!
